Ladies 4 v Romsey 3 - Match report

Fielding a range of both junior and senior players, Winchester Ladies 4s played a strong Romsey side.

Early pressure from the yellows resulted in a goal scored by the U14 player Alice Lander, contributions made by Mi-a Selman, Elizabeth Benzie and Esther Chainey, all U14/16 players.

Romsey then brought the game back, scoring an extra 2 goals in the first half and another 2 in the second, a respectable number thanks to the efforts of goalkeeper Laura Johnson, without whom would’ve been a much greater number!

The team as a whole began to settle and come into their own, working hard for each other by playing some nice, passing hockey and were rewarded with a late goal, unfortunately not enough to bring the game back.

Although not coming away with a win, the ethos of this side is to aid younger players whilst making hockey the most enjoyable sport it can be. The mixture of ages does not hold the team back from having a great time whilst playing a great sport.
